Doximity inked a partnership with Wolters Kluwer Health to embed UpToDate's evidence-based clinical content directly within Doximity Ask, the company’s AI clinical decision support tool.
In the coming weeks, at health systems that use both products, clinicians will see an answer based on UpToDate’s 13,000 clinical topics and best practice guides alongside Doximity Ask’s response, without leaving the Ask workflow.
Doximity is a digital platform for U.S. medical professionals that offers workflow tools such as a telehealth solution, a clinician-to-patient dialer tool and digital faxing capabilities.
The company aims to become a leading AI platform for doctors with plans to scale its clinical AI suite, including its ambient notetaking tool Scribe and clinical AI assistant and medical search engine Ask. A year ago, Doximity acquired clinical AI company Pathway and then integrated Pathway's datasets and its AI into its free Doximity GPT product to offer DoxGPT (now Ask).
As Doximity ramps up its investment in clinical AI tools, the partnership with Wolters Kluwer positions Ask as the front door to clinical knowledge. Wolters Kluwer's UpToDate is a widely used clinical evidence solution that's been on the market for 30 years.
The UpToDate integration gives Doximity another recognizable source of clinical authority to point to alongside its own 12,000-physician PeerCheck program.
As AI models improve, health tech companies are increasingly looking to differentiate their clinical AI tools through trust and safety, not just AI capabilities.
"Every frontier model has read all the same journals. UpToDate stands alone as a gold standard reference from experienced physicians about what happens when there isn't an RCT (randomized controlled trial), a trial that actually answers the questions.
