At the beginning of Black Clover, we were introduced to the Wizard King — a legendary position that only the most powerful can hold in the Clover Kingdom. The Wizard King acts as the most powerful mage around, with great authority, commanding the Magic Knight squads of the Kingdom at will.

When Black Clover first began, we were introduced to the reigning 28th Wizard King, that being Julius Novachrono. As the story progressed, it became apparent that Julius was a major antagonist that our main characters had to overcome. The battle against Julius and Lucius was iconic, and through the newest guidebook release on August 4, 2026, called Perfect Grimoire, Yuki Tabata officially revealed the strongest Wizard King Magic of all time, that is, Soul Magic.

The Wizard King is an extremely important figure in the world of Black Clover. The concept of the Wizard King was first introduced in the very beginning of the series, in Black Clover Chapter 1, released in 2015, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #12. Since the beginning of the story, it has been Asta and Yuno's main ambition to acquire this title. But, for the majority of the Black Clover story, the reigning Wizard King was none other than Julius Novachrono, the 28th person to hold this title. Julius had everyone stumped, as we were all under the impression that his real magic attribute was Time magic. After all, that seemed like his signature magic that he always utilized in battle or even outside of it.
