YOLO Difficulty in MW4, Explained

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 brings back the grittiness that the series needs, and within its stellar Campaign, you can challenge yourself further by upping the ante and changing the difficulty. While the rewards you earn are not tied to the difficulty you play on, the challenge might prepare you for Multiplayer and DMZ in the coming days. Below, you'll find every difficulty in MW4 explained.

If you're finding the game too hard (or too easy) then head to the menu and select Change Difficulty.

You can get 16 unique rewards for Modern Warfare 4's Multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone by completing the Campaign. Here's what you can unlock!

Perfect for players who want to focus on story over challenge, and those new to FPS games.

The perfect middle ground for those who want a balance of story and challenge.

Enemies are more aggressive, which makes for a decent challenge for those familiar with FPS games.

Enemies are more aggressive, have more health, deal more damage, and are far more accurate with their shots.

Your health is lower and more "realistic," so you can take fewer shots before you die, and enemies are far more aggressive and accurate.

You should only attempt this difficulty if you want the "Was it Worth it?" achievement and to unlock YOLO.

Realism difficulty (Veteran + no HUD), but the catch is that if you die or fail an objective, you reset to the first mission, regardless of your progress.

There are no achievements for this difficulty, only an animated Calling Card.
