Xbox Game Pass Officially Confirms Day One Open World Co-Op Game for November 5

Xbox Game Pass has confirmed another day-one addition for November 5, with Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, a new open-world escape-room co-op game. Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass will find that Coin Crew Games' upcoming puzzle adventure is something considerably different from the shooters and RPGs that have dominated many of the service's recent releases.

Game Pass has had quite a busy stretch of day-one launches this fall, ranging from major first-party releases like Gears of War: E-Day to much smaller games like Echo Weaver that can be easier to overlook in a crowded release calendar. That variety has long been one of the service's biggest strengths, giving subscribers an excuse to try something they might not have otherwise purchased outright. Its November 5 addition fits squarely into that category, taking a well-liked co-op puzzle series and considerably expanding its original formula.

Xbox confirms that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and eight other titles will arrive on Game Pass Ultimate throughout the rest of October.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School launches November 5 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers able to play it on day one. Rather than simply offering another collection of isolated escape rooms, Coin Crew Games decided to turn the sequel into a fully explorable campus filled with hidden passages, tunnels, traps, side quests, secrets, and characters to meet between its more traditional puzzles. The developers even call it the "first open-world escape-room game," making it a particularly unique addition to next month's lineup.
