Wolverine Has Sold Fewer Copies In 50 Days Than Spider-Man 2 Sold In Just One

Wolverine had an uncharacteristically rocky launch for Insomniac, and it looks like its reviews and the backlash towards some of its less popular mechanics may have had an impact on sales after all. While the game has sold in the millions, it’s not as many millions as you might expect from a game with one of Marvel’s most popular heroes as the lead.

Sony published its latest financial report today, and within it are updates on how well some of its first-party games have sold. Even though the report only covers the most recent quarter, which ended on September 30, 2026, it has sales figures for Wolverine’s first 50 days, right up until November 4.

According to those figures, Wolverine has sold through 2.4 million copies. That’s a big number. A number that most studios would bite your hand off for. However, those aren’t Marvel numbers, as is demonstrated by how well Spider-Man 2 sold at launch, which you can see from the webslinger’s figures a few rows up on the same Sony document.

According to that document, Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million copies during its first 24 hours. That means, despite having 50 times longer to hit that target, Wolverine has still fallen short. There’s an argument to be made that it’s unfair to compare the two, but it’s also unfair to suggest there is such a disparity between how well-known the heroes are that it should take Wolverine 50 times longer to hit the same targets.

There is no world in which a Wolverine game is, or was ever expected to, sell anywhere close to as well as a Spider-Man game.
