Foreign investment is becoming a major part of the UAE's growth story. FDI inflows jumped 48.7% in 2024 to $45.6 billion, up from $30.7 billion in 2023. The rise reflects growing international interest in the country's business environment, infrastructure, and expanding range of investment opportunities.
The UAE is building a broader economy where tourism, finance, transport, construction, technology, and other non-oil sectors play a larger role. The World Bank expects non-oil activity to remain a key growth driver, supported by investment, business reforms, and infrastructure development.
Artificial intelligence is becoming an important part of the UAE's economic plans. Investments in data centres, cloud computing, GPUs, and digital infrastructure are supporting the country's push toward an AI-driven economy. The World Bank has identified the UAE as one of the Gulf's leaders in digital transformation and AI readiness.
The UAE continues to invest heavily in infrastructure that connects businesses with international markets. Transport, logistics, digital networks, financial services, and large development projects are helping support its position as a global business hub. Abu Dhabi's long-term economic strategy also places strong focus on infrastructure and resilient financial markets.
Financial technology is another area attracting attention. The UAE's official Investor Navigator lists fintech among sectors with growth opportunities, alongside ICT, logistics, tourism, manufacturing, renewables, gaming, and smart cities. This wider sector mix gives investors more areas to explore beyond traditional real estate and energy.
The UAE's investment story is also linked to its position as a major trading centre. Its economic policies focus on increasing exports and expanding access to international markets.
