Why LYON Represent NA's Best Ever Chance At Worlds

As the last hope of North America in League of Legends' most prestigious tournament of the year, LYON take on Gen.G today in the second Worlds 2026 quarter-final in Texas. After scraping through the Swiss Stage by the skin of their teeth, the NA representatives will be looking to carry the momentum of their comeback forward, and with one of the best Junglers in the world and a home crowd cheering them on, who knows what could happen. It's even possible to consider LYON as the greatest shot at Worlds that NA has ever had.

If players are wondering how to turn on WASD controls in League of Legends and deciding whether they should switch, this guide will cover all.

It's safe to say that NA doesn't have a pretty record at Worlds, so positive performances and qualifications to the knockout stage stand out all the more. The region's greatest feat to date was when Cloud 9 beat Korea's Afreeca Freecs 3-0 in their Worlds 2018 quarterfinal. However, promptly losing to Europe's Fnatic put a damper on things, and C9 weren't even considered the best NA team, only coming in as the third seed.

LYON, however, are coming off a strong season domestically and internationally. They won LCS Lock-in and Spring , before finishing as runners-up in Summer. At internationals, they took a game off JDG at First Stand before finishing third at MSI , where they beat G2 3-0 and pushed the eventual winners HLE to five games .
