Vitality.Bee Pauses LFL Operations After Seven Years

Team Vitality is pressing pause on Vitality.Bee, ending the academy team’s operations in France’s League of Legends Regional League after seven years. The move removes an established LEC-linked development side from the LFL as uncertainty around the competition’s future weighs on the value of staying invested.

Vitality.Bee has competed in the LFL since the league began in 2019. Team co-founder Fabien “Neo” Devide presented the decision as a pause rather than a definitive farewell, leaving open the possibility of a return if conditions change.

The academy roster helped develop players who went on to reach the LEC, including Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek, Josip “Jopa” Čančar and current Vitality player Kaan “Naak Nako” Okan. That talent pathway is a central part of what makes the closure matter beyond one organisation’s roster planning: regional teams give developing players a place to compete before making the jump to Europe’s top league.

Results never brought Vitality.Bee an LFL Playoffs title across its seven-year run. The team did, however, win two French Cups and reach an EMEA Masters final, leaving a record that was more than a simple feeder-team footnote. Riot’s evolving Tier 2 structure also reflects how important those competitive steps are to the wider League ecosystem.

In a video explaining the decision, Devide pointed to uncertainty around the LFL after organiser Webedia’s departure. He also argued that the wider ERL ecosystem needs to change if organisations are to see a worthwhile reason to reinvest. The announcement did not set out a timetable or conditions for a possible comeback.
