Upcoming Open World Post-Apocalyptic Game is The Division Meets Fortnite

The story-driven survival sandbox game Permafrost is set to officially launch in early access on Steam on October 9, introducing players to a post-apocalyptic arctic world where exploration and strategy will be paramount to overcoming the brutal reality of an endless winter. Permafrost ranked among the Top 20 Steam Next Fest Demo titles, and fans who enjoyed their first taste of the frozen adventure only have a short while longer to wait before diving even deeper into the never-ending tundra.

Having already earned comparisons to games like The Division, Permafrost looks to scratch a familiar itch for fans of expansive open worlds by featuring gameplay mechanics that put players' survival skills to the test through silence and scarcity. With building mechanics reminiscent of Fortnite and both solo and co-op approaches available, Permafrost aims to offer a fresh take on the apocalyptic survival genre.

Gamers seeking a Wild West game to play with their squad are in luck, as a new Valheim-style title is coming to Steam this year.

In Permafrost , players choose between single-player or up to 4-player co-op before being drawn into a vast lore-rich open world by a lone radio signal from a lost friend. As a "Rook" engineer, players are tasked with using their skills to rebuild society on this near-future Earth, where a series of catastrophes led to the shattering of the moon and a devastating global deep-freeze. The Rooks will need to scavenge their way through the remnants of cities and the dangers of the wilderness, all while battling against harsh weather conditions and navigating faction-controlled territories.
