Upcoming Animal Life-Sim Game Already Hits Major Milestone Before Launch

Over a dozen regional Top Sellers charts on Steam now include Planet Zoo 2. The achievement serves as an encouraging sign of early commercial momentum for the upcoming animal life sim, which is scheduled to launch globally on Steam on October 13.

Steam's Top Sellers chart is not a straightforward ranking of copies sold. Valve orders it by revenue from the trailing 24 hours, with extra weight given to more recent spending, while base-game purchases, DLC, and in-game transactions all count toward final placement. That is why free-to-play games frequently crowd the highest positions in Steam's sales rankings even though they cost nothing to download. Case in point: Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, AION 2, and several other F2P titles currently occupy leading spots across most major regional charts, including the U.S. one.

As of October 11, Planet Zoo 2 ranks first on Steam's Top Sellers chart in the Netherlands while also holding several top 10 positions in other major markets: No. 3 in the Czech Republic, No. 4 in the United Kingdom, No. 7 in both Germany and Switzerland, and No. 9 in Australia. Moreover, the upcoming wildlife sandbox game also sits inside the U.S. top 20 at No. 18. Although these are live revenue rankings that can change quickly, the sheer breadth of Planet Zoo 2's placements makes the showing more notable than a strong performance in an isolated market, no matter how big.

Looking at its best regional ranking, the No. 1 spot in the Netherlands is not a one-day spike but reflective of longer momentum.
