TYLOO’s Lisbon forfeit cuts Singapore Major invite chance from 68% to 17% before VRS cutoff

TYLOO gave up a HyperX Retake Season 13 quarter-final in Lisbon to make IEM Beijing, and their projected chance of a PGL Major Singapore invite collapsed. The decision likely settles Asia's invite race days before the November 2 VRS cutoff locks the field.

TYLOO’s hopes of a PGL Major Singapore invite took a heavy blow away from the server. The Chinese side forfeited its best-of-three LAN quarter-final against Metizport in Lisbon on October 31. Metizport advanced on a 1-0 result.

The cause was a scheduling clash. The HyperX Retake organizers said TYLOO and Natus Vincere both pulled out because each team is booked to play IEM Beijing. NAVI had been due to face WhiteBIT Academy in a best-of-three playoff match the same day.

The cost for TYLOO is steep. Before the quarter-final, the team’s projected chance of a Singapore Major spot stood at 68%, according to HLTV’s invite prediction. NAVI’s position is unchanged by its own withdrawal. TYLOO went into the match at No. 32 in the HLTV ranking and No. 59 in the Valve Regional Standings.

Time to recover is almost gone. The November 2 cutoff marks the shortest gap ever between a VRS cutoff and the start of a Major. Earlier cutoffs came about two months before the event. The Singapore Major features 32 teams and a $1,250,000 prize pool.

The forfeit likely settles Asia’s invite race. Game, The MongolZ, FlyQuest, Chinggis Warriors and Lynn Vision are now expected to take the region’s spots. For TYLOO, that projection leaves little room on the path to Singapore.
