The Witcher 3 Remastered File Sizes Officially Announced

Developer CD Projekt Red revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will require players to set aside a moderate amount of storage space once it arrives on all current-gen platforms. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will give new and returning players a fresh look at one of the best open-world RPGs of all time.

During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, CD Projekt Red closed the show by revealing that the adventures of Geralt of Rivia are not over yet. The dev confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will make some noticeable changes, including improved movement, a reworked skill tree, and new visual upgrades for players to peruse. The Polish studio also gave players the first glimpses of The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, a new expansion that will take Geralt to the mysterious land of Letten. Songs of the Past will arrive sometime in 2027 on all platforms.

A brand-new release in The Witcher franchise is confirmed for 2027, with another potentially dropping next year as well.

Days before The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered releases on September 29 , CD Projekt Red shared one additional detail for players to note down. According to a Twitter post from Marcin Momot, the studio's Global Community and Social Media Director, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will require an additional 45 to 50 GB of storage space . Momot clarified that PC, PS5, and Xbox users will need to download and install a 45 GB update file to enjoy the remaster.
