The Elder Scrolls: Shadows of Oblivion has been officially confirmed to launch in November 2026, giving fans of the series something fresh to look forward to. Whenever there's a new Elder Scrolls release, it's always an exciting time, and with Shadows of Oblivion, there's plenty on the way.
It's a testament to the quality of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls games that the series remains as popular as it is, despite no new mainline release in almost 15 years. Oblivion Remastered shadow-dropped last year, allowing gamers to relive a classic, but it's not quite the same as a brand-new game. Bethesda has re-released Skyrim multiple times over the years, so much so that it has become a meme in the gaming community. Even outside of the main games, there are other projects to keep fans engaged with the series.
The Elder Scrolls' former loremaster has just publicly explained why the series never received a Fallout New Vegas-like spinoff.
Shadows of Oblivion is an upcoming expansion for Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era's Heroes of Tamriel. The board game from Chip Theory Games first launched to backers on Gamefound throughout 2025 and has since funded several expansions. Heroes of Tamriel consists of five expansions, one of which is Shadows of Oblivion, which is set to finally ship in November 2026.
