A military simulation game called Coast Defender with positive reviews is scheduled to be removed from Steam on November 12, but those who want to preserve have a chance to claim and keep it regardless. In terms of gameplay, Coast Defender has a lot in common with classic FPS shooters like Beach Head 2000, and it could appeal to the same player base on Steam.

For those who may not know much about Beach Head 2000, it was a combat simulation in which players control a two-barrel cannon and shoot at the ever-approaching enemy troops and choppers. Many consider Beach Head 2000 one of the best classic military simulation games, and although Coast Defender may not match its reputation, it still offers a somewhat similar experience that fans of retro-style games would likely appreciate.

Publisher Matryoshka has revealed that after three years of service, Coast Defender will be delisted from Steam on November 12. Users who claim the game and add it to their libraries before its removal will be able to continue playing it afterward. Coast Defender is not part of Steam's free-to-keep promotions. Instead, it is an already free-to-play game that can be preserved by adding it to an active Steam account.

Coast Defender will disable in-game purchases ahead of its removal from Steam. As a result, any mechanics tied to microtransactions will be inaccessible, though the base game itself won’t be affected.
