Steam Next Fest Was Flooded With Slop. These 50 Demos Cut Through The Noise

The October Edition of Steam Next Fest was, unsurprisingly, a complete mess. What was once a fun week-long festival of early game demos has become a dumping ground for vibe-coded AI slop, making it increasingly hard to find and wishlist good games. And if you weren't bothered by playing a game demo that was hastily cobbled together, the sheer volume--around 7,100 game demos were available this time--of what was on offer made Next Fest a nightmare to navigate. So what's a person to do when Valve's own storefront lacked the tools to separate the wheat from the chaff? Be patient, and look at the general consensus; that's what.

Niche management and shopkeeper sims also attracted players, with Questing Goose Studio's Probably Stolen and Victorian-gothic gem-cutting sim Abyssal Lapidary proving popular. Anyone looking for low-effort experiences will likely enjoy desktop companion games like Character House, and anticipated sequels like ArcheAge Chronicles drew big player numbers. One thing to note is that some of these games--like Teach My Little Sister How To Drive --do have AI disclosures attached, which you can filter for .
