Stardew Valley-inspired RPG Gets Shock Last-Minute Delay

The dark fantasy RPG was supposed to launch this week, but the release is getting pushed to 2027

Emberville, a dark fantasy RPG blending Stardew Valley-style farming with action-heavy dungeon crawling and an all-star voice cast, has delayed its launch just one day before its scheduled release.

Developer Cygnus Cross announced on Monday that Emberville will now launch into Early Access on Jan. 7, 2027, pushing back its planned Oct. 27 debut by more than two months. The team said it needs additional time to incorporate player feedback from the game's recent Steam Next Fest demo and deliver a more polished experience.

“We know this is very short notice, with launch just a day away,” the developer wrote in a letter to players. “After extensive discussions within the team, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Emberville’s Early Access release.”

According to Cygnus Cross, feedback from the demo prompted the team to plan several improvements, but some require more extensive changes than could be completed before launch. The developer specifically cited bow combat as an area that needs additional work.

“Reworking bow combat, for example, would take more time than we had prior to our Early Access release, even though the team is working around the clock,” the letter continued.

Rather than release the game on schedule and address those concerns afterward, the team decided to delay the launch and incorporate essential improvements into the initial Early Access version. The revised release will also include content originally planned for Emberville ’s first major post-launch update.
