Sonic the Hedgehog Shows Up in New Angry Birds 3 Trailer for Some Reason

Sonic is a cameo character in The Angry Birds Movie 3. The latest trailer shows him running, which is kinda his thing, alongside Chuck.

Chuck’s a yellow angry bird (he looks quite happy here, to be fair), voiced by Josh Gad, who you probably know best as Frozen’s Olaf. The pair run through a forest in the trailer, laughing and smiling about some mysterious shenanigans.

In the games, Sonic is always looking to save the woodland creatures, so I suppose it’s not a huge leap for him to be around the Angry Birds. Maybe he’ll teach them how to spin up so they can launch themselves at pig structures in devastating new ways. That’ll show the pigs.

This is the first Angry Birds flick under Paramount. The previous two movies were headed up by Sony, but now Paramount's at the helm and Paramount owns the movie rights to Sonic, working in partnership with Sega. Jason Sudeikis returns as Red for The Angry Birds Movie 3, while John Rice steps into the director’s chair. Rice previously co-directed the second movie and was lead storyboard artist on the first film.

“We are thrilled to announce that the brand-new film of the globally beloved and successful Angry Birds franchise is to be in production,” said Shuji Utsumi, President and COO at Sega, when Angry Birds 3 was initially announced. “Sega has been focusing on its Transmedia strategy to advance the value of its intellectual properties across games and diverse media landscapes.
