In the world of Solo Leveling, the protagonist Sung Jinwoo is almost always the star of the show. However, that's not to say that this phenomenal world created by the famed writer Chugong doesn't feature other intriguing characters. Over the years, fans have come to love many of the side characters, among whom is one of the legends of the old era, Go Gun-Hee, the chairman of the South Korean Hunter Association, who takes on the role of mentor and father figure for Jinwoo.
Now, Solo Leveling: Arise is bringing back this fan favorite with an interesting new twist. Solo Leveling: Arise just revealed a new alt for Go Gun-Hee, featuring him in a younger state. This comes two years after his first alt and makes for an exciting water elemental buster edition. We can’t wait to see what kind of new story Arise could explore with Go Gun-Hee as the main highlight.
Solo Leveling's popularity exploded in 2024 when its anime adaptation by Japanese studios Aniplex and A-1 Pictures debuted all across the world. Since then, Netmarble Studio, the video game company behind many of its projects, has capitalized on this success. In 2024, Netmarble went on to deliver the very first video game dedicated to Solo Leveling, officially titled “Solo Leveling: Arise.”
The PC and mobile game has, through its two-and-a-half-year existence, added already established characters from the Solo Leveling franchise for fans to enjoy, as well as throwing original ones into the mix. Even for already established characters, the game often adds its own twist and gives us new backstories, expanding upon the lore that Chugong delivered in the novel.
