The Prince William BAFTA Bursary now supports 112 early-career creatives this year, a 40% increase on last year’s scholarship group. Each creative scholarship awardee is offered a grant, some of up to £2,000 each. These grants are designed to cover a variety of costs that may present obstacles for the emerging creatives, including training courses, equipment and software, relocation expenses, and even driving lessons. The 2026 scholarship cohort includes recipients from all across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Of the 2026 scholarship awardees, several bursary recipients work in games. The emerging game makers include: Bellayna Lopez, a 2D game artist and animator; Erin Curtis, a freelance 2D game artist; Jessica Murray, a game designer and writer; Serina Lopez, a 2D artist and game producer; and Symoné, a game designer.
Within the group of 5 BAFTA UK scholars, two are studying game development and design. Hamzah Ali is a Reuben Scholar studying for an MA in Games Art at Staffordshire University. Ava Rogerson holds a BAFTA Scholarship for a BA in Games Art and Design at Norwich University of the Arts.
