Samsung has good and bad news about One UI 9’s disappearing status bar icons

TL;DR Some Galaxy users are reporting strange status bar behavior after updating to One UI 9, with QuickStar controls affecting the wrong icons.

Samsung has acknowledged the bug and confirmed that a fix is planned, but changes to the underlying platform software mean there’s no timeline yet.

A separate issue causing status bar icons to disappear has a simpler explanation, with Samsung recommending a shorter date format.

Samsung’s stable One UI 9 rollout is gathering pace, bringing new features and improvements to more Galaxy devices. But as more users install the update, a few bugs are beginning to surface. One particularly strange issue is causing status bar icons to behave unpredictably, although the good news is that Samsung has already acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix.

A Galaxy user recently reported on Samsung’s South Korean community forum that system icons were responding to the wrong controls in Good Lock’s QuickStar module, which lets users customize what appears in the status bar.
