Robert Pattinson Reportedly Screen-Tested for 007 in James Bond 26

Robert Pattinson reportedly screen-tested for the role of 007 in James Bond 26.

"The screen tests are said to have occurred the weekend of Oct. 24," according to The Hollywood Reporter. "THR previously reported that four, possibly five actors were in the mix but only three names surfaced at the time."

Those three named actors are Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor.

THR also said Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult has emerged as a contender for the role of Bond.

This wouldn't be the first time Hoult and Pattinson have vied for the same high-profile franchise role. Hoult was the runner-up for the role of Batman in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film, which Pattinson won.

Meanwhile, Variety claims that "Harry Styles has had discussions about the part, and Theo James also hasn’t been ruled out."

It’s unusual but not unheard of for an actor to lead two big franchises at the same time. Harrison Ford played Han Solo and Indiana Jones in the same era, later adding Jack Ryan to the mix. Robert Downey Jr. starred in the Sherlock Holmes films while anchoring the MCU as Iron Man.

Pattinson recently worked with James Bond 26 director Denis Villeneuve on Dune: Part 3. The Bond screen tests took place in London where Pattinson is currently filming The Batman: Part 2.

At 40 years old, Pattinson is older than the three other named 007 contenders and Hoult, who are all 36 years old. As someone who launched to global fame with the Twilight films, Pattinson is a far cry from the "fresh face" that producers were reportedly looking to cast at one point.
