Ramen, developer of the multi-agent AI assistant for Unity and Unreal Engine, has launched Aura Autopilot, an open source, game playtesting agent that improves itself the more it plays. Alongside the launch the company has published a whitepaper that covers benchmark results and high-level architecture.
Aura Autopilot is the latest feature addition to be integrated into the top 20 ranking app for AI agentic usage, Aura 1.0, which launched in September. Since then, Aura has gained traction with developers with frequent ongoing improvements. Ramen’s revenue has tripled while both subscribers and daily users have increased six fold.
“Aura Autopilot plays any game in real time and learns as it goes, getting better the more it plays,” said Andy Tsen, CEO and co-founder at Ramen, in a press release. “That opens a new frontier for game QA, and we’re open sourcing it so developers and researchers can take it further.”
Aura Autopilot during early testing can be seen successfully playing a variety of games including shooters, action role playing games, mobile games, survival crafting games, turn-based JRPGs, and realtime strategy games, all in real time. It learns a game as it goes, plans toward long-term goals, and stays steerable, so developers can point it at the exact system they want tested. Paired with Aura, it closes the loop on feature work: Aura builds a gameplay feature end to end and Autopilot playtests it.
Ramen believes game-playing agents should be built in the open and improved over time, and invites developers of all types and sizes to build and test their games with Aura Autopilot, whether access through open source or Aura subscription.
