For many gamers, controllers are as important as the console, with PS5's DualSense controller being a standout design, making every new release a big deal. From new PS5 controller models to new PS5 colors and designs, there's always something attractive about picking up a new controller.
That said, it's arguably the hardest generation to ensure collectors get every new controller and hardware release for the PS5. The PS5 console itself going up in price dramatically is obviously the biggest issue, but the slow move away from physical discs is going to make any collection (or the need for one) feel lacking. Controllers are obviously still a big deal, but even the PS5 is designed to be more modular with custom plates—there are fewer special console editions than ever before, it would seem.
PlayStation officially comments on its PS5 disc policy beginning in January 2028.
PlayStation has officially revealed the DualSense Wireless Controller – Gran Turismo Limited Edition, a new PS5 controller priced at $84.99 in the United States. The design celebrates 30 years of The Real Driving Simulator, combining racing stripes and Gran Turismo-like motorsport-inspired graphics with a textured front plate designed to resemble carbon fiber. The controller brings the visual language of performance cars to the beloved PS5 DualSense controller, giving the anniversary edition a distinct look without abandoning the familiar PS5 controller design.
The limited-edition controller also carries a message from Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Grand Turismo developer Polyphony Digital, who reflected on the series' original vision and the community that has supported it.
