Before PlayStation revealed plans to stop putting its games on discs starting in 2028, Rockstar revealed physical copies of GTA 6 will be nothing more than a code in a box. However, a handwritten sign at a GameStop may have revealed you’ll actually get a little more than that, even if your copy of GTA 6 still won’t be on a disc.
The sign, which was spotted at a GameStop in Pennsylvania, claims that if you reserve a copy of GTA 6, you will receive a physical copy of Leonida’s map, the fictional location in which GTA 6 will be set. The ultimate edition details are listed further down, which implies the map comes with physical copies of the standard edition too.
Shared by Small_Masterpiece892 on Reddit, they immediately follow up in the replies to make sure the rest of the world knows that, even though they’re the ones who snapped the pic, they are as skeptical as the rest of us right now. While GameStop employees might be privy to more information than most since they’re taking pre-orders for the game, it still seems unlikely that they’d know something like this, especially since physical copies of the game almost certainly haven’t arrived in store yet.
Although, since they’re codes in boxes that can’t be activated until pre-loads go live, and can’t be played until release day, maybe there are already physical copies of GTA 6 in GameStop stock rooms right now.
Perhaps whoever wrote that sign is a longtime GTA fan who is aware of the series’ various traditions.
