Overwatch’s Midseason Patch Adds Teaser For Its Sexy New Omnic Detective Hero

Overwatch’s midseason patch that went live today added Stellar Blade skins and balance changes, but it also has teasers for a few changes to come. Those include the next hero, colloquially known as “Omnic Detective” among the community.

If you boot up Overwatch and head to the Midtown map, you’ll now find a business card for Hudson Investigations, which includes the names Ellie Hudson and Rigby M-018. This pair of private investigators is available for hire, but we haven’t met anyone by either of those names in 10 years of Overwatch lore. Ellie Hudson sounds like a human’s name, but Rigby M-018 likely refers to the Omnic Detective that Blizzard has been teasing since its 2026 reboot back in February.

A 'Hudson Investigations' business card has been added to Midtown, advertising Ellie Hudson & Rigby M-018 as P.I.s for hire.

We still don’t know much about Rigby, and until now, most people called him “Omnic Detective” because of his fedora and trench coat which are evocative of the 1930s and ‘40s detective aesthetic, rather than because we had any concrete details about his backstory. Based on his artwork, he also seems to carry around an umbrella, though it’s unclear if that’s his weapon or just an accessory.

Blizzard has confirmed that Rigby will help usher in Overwatch ’s next story arc, though it’s unclear how he’ll tie into the story of Vendetta’s rise to power that played out over 2026 . However he plays into what comes next, I just hope he’s a DPS hero because I could use another one after Blizzard moved Sombra to the Support role .
