Open-World RPGs With Perfect Quest Systems

Open-world RPGs are known for a whole host of different things that all go into creating the most immersive and engaging role-playing experience possible, and one of the most defining features is the quests you encounter on your adventures. It's one thing to grab your attention with a couple of side activities, but it's another entirely to engage you for dozens of hours as you get lost in a world where every interaction and conversation feels like it could lead to a remarkable quest.

What's an open-world RPG without the ability to make your character look as edgy or silly as you like?

Many games focus more on having a lot of content, and as a result, the quality of the main and side quests falters. The best in the genre, however, are very aware of the importance of mission material and choose to directly center the entire playthrough around the stories within it, both big and small, adding meaning to the world and giving you a real reason to keep on exploring.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sets an extraordinarily high standard for quest content by treating side quests with the same care as its main story. A simple monster contract can become an investigation into a family's tragedy, while helping a stranger can lead to morally complicated decisions with consequences that emerge much later, transforming otherwise boring and disconnected tasks into something far more interesting.

The reason I believe this quest system is particularly effective is that objectives rarely feel like filler.
