One Piece Is Officially Adding A Legendary Devil Fruit User To Straw Hat Pirates

The Straw Hat Pirates are the protagonists of One Piece, led by the captain Monkey D. Luffy, whose goal is to become the Pirate King. Luffy began his journey on July 18, 1997, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 34. Since then, his adventure has continued, and the Straw Hat Pirates have grown with him. Right now, the Straw Hat Pirates have a total of nine Officers under Captain Monkey D. Luffy, but now is the time for Eiichiro Oda to add the last officer and bring a legendary Devil Fruit into the ranks of the Straw Hat Pirates.

With another legendary Devil Fruit within their ranks after Monkey D. Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, the Straw Hat Pirates will finally be complete and will be able to fight back against the threat of Nerona Imu and the other powerful World Nobles.

When One Piece Chapter 1 was officially released on July 18, 1997, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 34, Monkey D. Luffy made it quite clear that he was looking for at least 10 underlings. As such, Eiichiro Oda established quite early on in the story that Luffy would go on to recruit 10 different people for his crew. This makes even more sense when looking at the rivals that the Straw Hat Pirates have in the final saga. The Red Hair Pirates have 10 Officers under Shanks, and the Blackbeard Pirates have 10 Officers under Teach as well. For Luffy to compete against these crews in a full-on battle, he will need 10 Officers as well.
