One Piece Creator Oda Is Removing The Yonko Permanently

The Yonko are known to be the four strongest pirates to exist in the world of One Piece. They were officially introduced to us in Chapter 432 of the series, which was released on October 30, 2006, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 48. In the 20 years that have passed since, the Yonko made their presence known on the seas of the One Piece world.

In the New World, the Yonko rule like absolute kings with a level of authority that not even the Navy dares to rival. Undoubtedly, the Yonko are some of the most powerful in the world of One Piece, but as the series heads deeper into its final saga, the supremacy of the Yonko is being broken, and the system is set to be permanently discarded.

The order of the Yonko did not always exist in the world of One Piece, as was clearly seen in the flashbacks of the Elbaf arc. 40 years ago was the era of Rocks D. Xebec, and in this era, the three strongest pirate crews were the Rocks Pirates, the Roger Pirates, and the Kuja Pirates. After this came the era of the Roger Pirates, led by Gol D. Roger. In this era, the Roger Pirates were the absolute strongest, while the likes of the Whitebeard Pirates, the Beast Pirates, the Big Mom Pirates, and the Golden Lion Pirates were also lurking in the background.

“Even though the Roger Pirates sailed the seas in this time, it wouldn't be a stretch to call this time the era of Rocks!” — Narrator, One Piece Chapter #1157
