Haki is one of the most important powers to exist in the world of One Piece. It stems from the spirit and willpower of the user and can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes. Usually, Haki can be divided into two types: the Color of Observation and the Color of Arms.
Luffy's Gear 5 has been defeated. He needs a new power to continue the Imu battle.
In a select few people, however, there exists a third form of Haki known as Conqueror's Haki. Among the elites of the One Piece world, the absolute strongest wield immensely powerful Haki, and those who are more skilled with its usage usually occupy the strongest positions on the seas of the One Piece world.
The protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy is an incredibly skilled user of Haki. Luffy has access to all three types of Haki and has advanced all of their forms incredibly well. Luffy can see the future with his Observation Haki, deal contactless damage with Armament Haki, and, above all, infuse Conqueror's Haki at a very high level.
That said, Luffy's control over Conqueror's Haki is not all that great. He still needs to learn the very advanced applications of this power, and that is why the Elbaf arc exists. Luffy has already improved his control over Conqueror's Haki drastically in this arc, but there is more work to be done. Eiichiro Oda is slowly making him a monstrously powerful Haki user with immense skill.
