New Anime Movie Is Set To Dethrone Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

On July 18, 2025, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle officially began its run in Japan. The movie was then released worldwide shortly after and went on to make history. Right now, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle stands as the biggest anime movie release ever worldwide, and at the global box office, it has accumulated a total of $793 million.

While Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is quite clearly the biggest anime movie release ever, One Piece is now prepping its own movie for a 2027 release. It was officially confirmed on One Piece Day 2026, on August 23, that One Piece is getting a God Valley movie in 2027, marking its first canon movie release in its entire history. This canon movie could potentially go on to reach the same heights as Infinity Castle and perhaps even surpass it.

2027 is going to be an absolutely massive year for One Piece . Not only are the fans getting a complete remake, which is being tackled by WIT Studio in collaboration with Netflix, but at the same time, it is also getting a brand-new movie. On One Piece Day 2026, which was held on August 22 and August 23, it was officially announced that the series is getting a brand-new movie. Usually, One Piece releases a new movie every three years, but it's already been four years since the last movie, and fans were perplexed as to why no new release was announced. Finally, we have an announcement for the new movie, and it is going to be the first canon theatrical release of the franchise.
