Masashi Kishimoto, the legendary mangaka of the Naruto series, began his story in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on September 21, 1999. For 15 long years, this series was a staple of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and its popularity made it one of the biggest manga series in the entire world.
Naruto became so massive that its popularity has endured the test of time, and even after 12 years following the conclusion of the original story, it is extremely popular worldwide. The story of Naruto is filled with arduous battles for the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, but at the same time, sad deaths as well. These deaths are especially painful when powerful figures such as the Kage end up meeting their end. Masashi Kishimoto killed quite a few Kage during his run in the Naruto series, but now, years after the conclusion of the original story, Kishimoto has also killed another Kage off-screen. That's none other than the legendary Third Tsuchikage of Iwagakure, Onoki, who was killed in the Boruto era.
Each legendary village in the world of Naruto and Boruto has its own Kage, and Iwagakure is no different in that regard. The leader of the Iwagakure is the Tsuchikage, and over the years, we have seen quite a few of them in the Naruto series. The Fourth Shinobi World War, in particular, showed us both the Second Tsuchikage as well as the Third Tsuchikage. The latter especially became a beloved character among the fans for his incredible wisdom and the ability to rally the younger ninjas to fight alongside him.
