My Hero Academia ended the Final War arc with the fall of All For One and the death of Shigaraki Tomura, and in the Epilogue arc, a new era officially began. The series also saw an 8-year timeskip, which showed the students from Class 1-A becoming Pro Heroes, apart from a few. At the end of it all, Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, once again rose to become a Pro Hero after being gifted new hero armor by none other than All Might.
In this new era, Mirio Togata stands as the new Number One Hero of Japan. While he claims this position in terms of popularity, there is an argument to be made that in terms of strength, Japan's true strongest hero is someone entirely different. This person is none other than the hero named Dynamight, Katsuki Bakugo, who played a significant role in defeating All For One in the Final War arc of My Hero Academia.
When deciding the rankings for the Hero Billboard Chart, strength is not the only thing that is taken into consideration. Popularity, behavior, and temperament are also important, as is hero charm. While Bakugo certainly dominates in terms of strength, he is lagging in terms of everything else. That is precisely why Bakugo, who initially debuted as the Number 4 Hero in Japan, dropped back to position number 15. Later on, his bad attitude continued to make waves in Japan, and even Deku commented on it.
In the latest release of My Hero Academia on August 2, 2026, it was confirmed that Bakugo was once again rising through the ranks despite his bad attitude and lack of charisma.
