Shigaraki Tomura was one of the most important characters in the world of My Hero Academia and stood as the primary antagonist of the series for quite a long time. Initially, Shigaraki wanted to be a Hero, but his story arc in My Hero Academia eventually made him into a villain whom Deku wanted to rescue from his own misery.
At the end of My Hero Academia, specifically in Chapter 423, which was released on May 20, 2024, and later adapted into Episode 167 on November 22, 2025, as the climax of the Final War arc, Shigaraki Tomura officially met his end. What followed was the epilogue arc of My Hero Academia and the beginning of a brand new era. However, in this new era, a new Shigaraki Tomura was born, but this time, he was saved by those around him. This new Shigaraki is none other than Koki Terumoto, who has currently enrolled in UA and stands as one of the new leaders of the next generation.
Shigaraki Tomura was a crucial part of My Hero Academia. Even though his journey ended in chapter 423, his legacy was passed on, and his influence was still felt in the series. At the very end of the epilogue arc of My Hero Academia , with the release of chapter 430 on August 5, 2024, Shigaraki Tomura's influence was felt once again as Kohei Horikoshi set up his successor. This successor came in the form of Koki Terumoto, who resembled Shigaraki in a multitude of ways .
