On December 13, 2025, the My Hero Academia original anime reached its conclusion, with two more special episodes that followed this year in the summer. While most fans assumed My Hero Academia's run was over, the series is quietly planning for a surprise return later this year.
My Hero Academia is set to make a special appearance in December and is also going to bring back its best couple, Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka, later down the line. It has now been confirmed that My Hero Academia will make an appearance at Jump Festa 2027, and it will be featured at Jump Super Stage, which means that a major announcement from the series is expected.
My Hero Academia enjoyed a successful year, despite having limited releases. After the conclusion of the main anime storyline, there were two main chapters from Kohei Horikoshi that needed anime adaptation, and both of them received it this year. My Hero Academia chapter 431, which was a part of the last volume of the series, was adapted first. It focused entirely on the best couple of the series, Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka, bringing them together after years of romance and officially making them canon.
My Hero Academia's short one-shot chapter, titled "I Am a Hero Too," which focused on Eri, was also adapted and released in the summer, on August 3, 2026 . Most fans assumed that this was the end of the road for My Hero Academia, but shortly after, it was officially announced that My Hero Academia will be featured at Jump Festa 2027 and make significant announcements.
