Insomniac Games has published a new Marvel's Wolverine update that adds an option to turn off those controversial scent trails for collectibles.
The Sony developer made good on its promise to investigate a proper on/off option when version 1.001.006 launched just hours ago. Its patch notes reveal more targeted changes as the studio works out the remaining kinks that have emerged in the days since Marvel's Wolverine launched for PlayStation 5.
There are three new toggle settings that players can now use to customize their gameplay experience: one for Whiskey Bottle scent trails, one for Material Crate Audio Clues, and one for Nightmare Door Roots. Those first two proved to be an especially hot topic online, with players criticizing in-game hints as one of a few examples of a game many feel is too 'hand-holdy.' Adding the option to completely turn these guides off should quiet those concerns, with a toggle for Nightmare Door Roots adding even more freedom for players to tailor their Marvel's Wolverine experience to their liking.
The new toggles are pretty straightforward. If players find the wavy visuals to be a bit too distracting, they can simply turn them off. As noted in the in-game settings, using Wolverine's Crate Finder and Whiskey Finder Adaptations will override any flipped toggles.
The update also tackles some crashes reported by the community, as well as a few pesky glitches. For example, one of the more common problems fans may have seen in viral clips online was Logan getting his claws stuck when sliding down an early-game tree.
