The Marvel Rivals Discord has been caught automatically banning accounts from chat functions for having a pro-Palestine server tag next to their username.

Multiple members of the community have tested this out, resulting in several viral clips of users getting their accounts restricted in seconds. I tested this myself, and true enough, I got the same restrictions as soon as I added the server tag next to my name, despite saying nothing in the actual Marvel Rivals server.

Many have started testing this out, sharing how quickly it takes them to receive a message about their account being restricted in the Marvel Rivals server. I can attest to the fact that it really does happen moments after you hit save on your profile.

Furthermore, I am in an ungodly amount of official video game Discord servers for work, and none of them banned me. That is despite many of them having similar rules against discussing topics such as the genocide in Gaza. It just seems that they wait until you actually say something in the server before rolling out the bans.

NetEase is under fire for allowing this, and the moderators are struggling to control the situation within the server. Many fans, both in and out of the server, are pushing back against this, arguing it is overly punitive and censoring expression outside of the server.

This is far from the first controversy NetEase has created as of late. As we reported previously, a spray for Emma Frost came under fire for racist imagery , although this has since been fixed in-game.
