Magic: The Gathering has been around and thriving for over three decades at this point, drawing attention from countless communities even beyond the traditional TCG market. While plenty of fans have expressed their dismay at MTG's genre inclusions, the franchise has gained a massive boost in popularity as a result, which even spawned several spinoff materials that include an officially licensed MTG manga.
Although many players might be entirely unaware of MTG's manga adaptation titled Destroy All Humans: They Can't Be Regenerated, which is set during the nostalgic release period of the trading card game, yet another project is supposedly on the way that will further expand the world in a more familiar setting.
Claimed by the supposedly reputable anime source MangaMoguraRE on X, we received a first look at the next licensed MTG manga, which will act as a spinoff of the original story, titled "Destroy All Humans: They Can't Be Regenerated: Time Shift." Scheduled to release on October 26, Time Shift will take place 10 years after the original manga and follow the story of its once-pro side character Yakumo Suwabara meeting a new up-and-coming player.
While it's hard to find much of anything related to the project considering it doesn't seem to have been officially announced through any traditional channels we can find, the source claims that it will be a drastically shorter run with only 4 chapters planned that will explore a more recent time period of MTG's history.
The biggest downside to the new release is that there isn't much chance of a simultaneous English version, leaving fans potentially waiting years for an official English version if the history of the original series is anything to go by.
