Johnny Depp Is Open to Playing Jack Sparrow Again in a New Pirates of the Caribbean Movie

Johnny Depp is open to playing Jack Sparrow again in a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, despite saying he'd never work with Disney on the franchise ever again.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Depp was asked if he had any interest in playing Sparrow again. He noted that he wanted to send the franchise off on a better note, presumably referring to the last film being a critical disappointment.

"If things are exactly where they need to be with regard to how they're going to top off the Pirates [story]. The only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note. I'll go to work with [Jerry] Bruckheimer tomorrow for anything. If it's Jerry, I trust him. We have a deep friendship."

Depp had previously stated during his legal battle with Amber Heard that he wouldn't work with Disney on a new Pirates movie, not even for $300 million and a million alpaca. It seems he's softened his stance on the matter, which has reportedly been the case for a while. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has stated a few times over the last couple of years that he was having conversations with Depp about a new Pirates movie, but nothing has been locked in place. There is, however, a screenplay in the works, and the producer hopes to get a deal signed with Depp.

This is the first time Depp has publicly revealed he's open to the idea since swearing off the idea in 2023.
