It's been nearly four years since Electronic Arts announced a partnership with Marvel to develop a new Iron Man game, and the studio behind it — EA Motive — haven't said much about the project. In the absence of official information, newly leaked gameplay of EA's Iron Man emerged this week, showing off an all-new action-packed adventure for Tony Stark that looks incredibly promising.
While the footage of Iron Man appears to come from a very early development build of the game, it appears to capture the speed and power of Marvel's genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist superhero. The combat looks to be informed by the Batman Arkham and Marvel's Spider-Man games, but with an extra layer of Iron Man inspiration.
Leaked footage of the game shows a handful of early cinematic scenes from Iron Man, including characters like Tony Stark and what appear to be game versions of Pepper Potts, Obadiah Stane, and Henry Pym. The footage also shows a variety of familiar faces from Iron Man's rogues gallery, including Madame Masque and Iron Monger. One shot includes what appears to be Ultron and another focuses on a character that looks like Yellowjacket. The Marvel characters teased in leaked Iron Man footage hew more closely to their Marvel Comics counterparts than their MCU interpretations, but they'll look familiar to fans who know Stark and company from the movies.
Unlike the MCU's Iron Man, the game appears to be set primarily in Chicago — not New York City. But we also see Iron Man traveling to other locations, including Japan and a SHIELD Helicarrier in the skies.
