Boasting a library of 388 games, the Nintendo 64 was bound to have its share of all-time classics, as well as a bunch of games that flew completely under the radar. Not every game on the console is a must-play, but there are a lot more great titles than just the iconic ones.

Take these next games, for example. They're all Nintendo 64 releases, some developed by legendary studios, and they've all been almost entirely forgotten. These are some seriously deep cuts that even N64 fans may have completely overlooked, but they're also fantastic. In a different timeline, they might even be classics in their own right, but for now, they're simply near-perfect masterpieces that have been underrated for far too long and deserve another look.

As far as 3D platformers go, if you're looking at the N64, the genre is basically divided into two categories: Mario 64 and everything else. I'm not going to tell you that Chameleon Twist is a better game than Mario 64, but I am going to insist that it has one of the most unique mechanics in any 3D platformer.

Playing as one of four chameleon characters, you'll use your tongue to traverse levels and fight enemies. In combat, the tongue works a lot like Yoshi's tongue in Yoshi's Story (which was released in the same year), but when it comes to traversal, things get a lot more interesting. You can use your chameleon's tongue to grapple between ledges, swing around poles, and even launch yourself upwards.
