How to Spike the Ball in CFB 27

Throwing accurate passes or running through a thin hole in the defensive line are both great skills, but those who don't know the rules in CFB or the NFL might miss some genius plays. Spiking the ball is one of those smart options, but quite situational. Spiking the ball is a way to save time and keep the clock from ticking. In exchange, you waste a down, which isn't much if you already have three more left.

Find the sweet spot for the best authentic experience in your Dynasty modes for College Football 27 with our settings guide.

To spike the ball, you need to wait for the current play to end. When you are on offense and you start a play after the snap, whether it's a pass or a rush, wait for the play to end. It doesn't matter how the play ends. As soon as the referee blows the whistle, which signals the end of the play, you should hold down Square (on PlayStation) or X (on Xbox) to initiate Turbo Tempo.

After that, you will see your players lined up for another play immediately. Now, a small mini-play screen should be visible in the bottom-right corner of your screen with different options, including Spike.

Press R1 (on PlayStation) or RB (on Xbox) to choose Spike . Now, the mini-play screen will disappear. As soon as you snap the ball by pressing X (on PlayStation) or A (on Xbox), the QB will spike the ball , and the clock will stop ticking.
