If you want to craft items directly from your storage crates in Enshrouded, you'll need to make Magic Chests and place all your crafting materials in those instead of regular storage boxes. Magic Chests allow all nearby crafting stations to draw directly from their inventories, making item crafting in Enshrouded much more convenient, and yes, this includes you and your ability to draw building materials as well.
You can easily make Small Magic Chests by combining a regular Small Chest with Shroud Spores at a Workbench. For reference, Small Chests require Wood Logs and Strings, while Shroud Spores can be obtained by defeating Shroud monsters. You should have no trouble beating weaker Shroud monsters near the starting zone, and if you're having trouble finding some, try exploring at night, or go down to the Shroud-covered valley.
If you want bigger Magic Chests, you'll need to save the Carpenter from his vault. Larger chests require more advanced materials:
Of course, you'll need to progress through Enshrouded's main quest and the Carpenter's own quests in order to get access to the resources and stations you need to process such materials.
Additionally, since larger Magic Chests require different types of Shroud-based and alchemical ingredients, you'll need to unlock the Alchemist and progress through his quest line as well. Doing NPC quests for the various townsfolk in Enshrouded is mandatory for progression , especially once you unlock new regions that yield new types of resources. You'll need to complete quests in order to unlock the necessary tools/crafting stations that your artisans need to make better stuff.
