GTA 6 Fans Are Largely Upset About the New $400 Collector's Edition

The Grand Theft Auto 6 Collector's Box is sparking widespread online backlash, with many vocal fans taking to social media to criticize both its contents and perceived value. Although the response adds yet another controversy to the game's pre-release marketing cycle, there are currently no concrete indications that it will have a meaningful impact on GTA 6 pre-order numbers.

Rumors of a GTA 6 Collector's Edition have circulated on social media for years. Although Rockstar has yet to announce such a version of the game, the Collector's Box unveiled in late September 2026 is arguably the closest equivalent revealed so far. Its pricing and contents have nevertheless managed to exceed even some of the loftiest Collector's Edition rumors, though not necessarily in the way fans had hoped.

Rockstar's GTA 6 campaign is formally underway with a massive Vice City sign that cost an eye-watering amount of money and raised police concerns.

From Reddit to X, social media reactions to the GTA 6 Collector's Box announcement appear to be predominantly negative. The most common criticism concerns its $399.99 asking price, which many fans argue is extremely difficult to justify because the package does not even include a copy of GTA 6. Others have questioned the overall value of the contents, particularly because a significant portion of the price appears tied to branded merchandise such as Oakley sunglasses and a New Era cap. Such items may hold limited appeal for buyers primarily interested in game-related collectibles and memorabilia.

The selection of merchandise included in the newly announced GTA 6 Collector's Box has also drawn significant online criticism.
