GTA 6 Advert Pretends Xbox Doesn't Exist

Grand Theft Auto 6’s first-ever TV spot debuted last night, and it continues the launch trailer’s approach of pretending that Xbox doesn’t even exist.

While it’s been clear for some time now that PlayStation has the exclusive marketing rights to GTA 6, the past few months have cemented just how close Rockstar and Sony are for the game. Right around the time pre-orders went live, both companies straight-up said that GTA 6 “plays best on PlayStation”.

All of that is fairly standard, but things got a little wilder last week with GTA 6’s launch trailer, which not only had the PlayStation symbol kick things off, but also completely left Xbox’s logo out at the end when platforms are displayed. That tactic is even being used for general audiences, who might not even realise GTA 6 is on Xbox as well.

As pointed out by Twitter user videotech, GTA 6’s first-ever TV spot, which is just a shorter version of the recent launch trailer, debuted last night on NBC Sports. Alongside removing the steamy shower scenes and some of the more violent moments, the most notable thing about the trailer is that it also doesn’t include any mention of Xbox.

Sony is right - Grand Theft Auto 6 is probably going to play best on PlayStation.

Even in the last few seconds where there’s all the legal information, only the PlayStation logo is shown, and there doesn’t even appear to be small text confirming Xbox.
