Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew Wins Over Skeptical Fans With First Poster

The first poster for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is here, and it seems to have won over a few of the more skeptical fans.

Netflix shared an ethereal glimpse at the new Narnia movie on social media today. It came with the promise that a first look at the Barbie director's foray into the beloved fantasy universe will arrive via trailer tomorrow, though specifically when it will premiere is unclear.

The Narnia: The Magician's Nephew poster (below) seems to call back to art featured on some copies of author C. S. Lewis' original The Magician's Nephew novels. That would mean the three individuals illuminated by iridescent light here are Polly (Beatrice Campbell), Digory (David McKenna), and their flying horse, Fledge. The spacey lion gracing the background, meanwhile, teases Meryl Streep's Aslan.

The new poster for Gerwig's Netflix movie doesn't reveal much about its story or characters, but it's the look and feel that has fans taken aback. Even some of the more skeptical viewers, who have feared what an adaptation of Lewis' work would look like in 2026, like what they see here, with many taking to social media to praise the art.

"Credit where credit is due, that is one hell of a poster," another added.

"It looks like a poster from a 1980s/early 1990s fantasy film and I am here for it," another user added.

That's not to say that there aren't still those who have yet to be impressed. Most of the concern seems to come from a place of dread that some of the most revered characters in fantasy could be warped or damaged on impact.
