God of War 3 Remastered Port Available Now

An unofficial fan-made port of God of War 3 Remastered is now available on PC, allowing Kratos' complete Greek finale to run natively on Windows from beginning to end. The new God of War 3 project also adds high-frame-rate support, keyboard and mouse controls, mods, and several other PC-focused features.

God of War 3 originally launched on PS3 in 2010 before Sony remastered it for PS4 five years later, but neither version has ever left those respective platforms. That absence has become more noticeable as PlayStation continues to bring more of its library to PS5 and PC, with 2018's God of War arriving on Steam in 2022 and God of War Ragnarok following in 2024. PC players can therefore officially experience Kratos' entire Norse story while his original battle against Olympus remains locked to older PlayStation hardware unless they turn to emulation or projects like this one.

Even though God of War Laufey's pre-order bonuses are a guarantee, there is one major catch that players will want to know beforehand.

Developer Felipe Prado on Reddit says the new God of War 3 PC port project is already playable from the opening through the final battle, with saves, audio, cinematics, controllers, and keyboard support working. It also includes a 240 FPS engine patch, background shader caching, control remapping, save backups, optional FSR 1, cheats, and various performance options. Performance-wise, Prado reports averaging about 144 FPS at 1080p on an RX 6700 XT, though the project remains in alpha and still has issues with some textures at resolutions above 1080p, so some bugs are to be expected.
