Gen.G sweep LYON 3-0 to end North America’s Worlds 2026 run and set up iG semifinal

Gen.G swept LYON 3-0 in the second Worlds 2026 quarterfinal, knocking out North America's last team. The LCK champions now face Invictus Gaming as they chase their first Worlds final.

Gen.G are into the Worlds 2026 semifinals without dropping a game in their quarterfinal. They remain the only team left unbeaten from the Swiss Stage. The result removes North America’s last team, so the LCS is out of Worlds.

Gen.G controlled the series from the draft onward. Their better record gave them first choice in game one. They took blue side and stayed on it for all three games.

Game one took 32 minutes, and Gen.G finished with 19 kills to LYON’s 8. Game two was the shortest of the series, ending in just over 25 minutes. Ruler stood out on Ashe, and Canyon stole a dragon on Jarvan IV. Gen.G then used the Baron buff to break into LYON’s base.

Game three came down to a Dragon Soul fight. Gen.G took back control there, claimed Baron and wiped all five LYON players without losing anyone. Top laner Kiin controlled his lane for the whole series.

The sweep was more one-sided than the teams’ first meeting. Gen.G beat LYON 2-1 in the Swiss Stage on October 25, with Kiin named MVP. That one LYON win was the only game Gen.G conceded to any opponent during the Swiss Stage.

LYON reached the quarterfinal through a 3-2 Swiss Stage record. They beat Team Secret Whales and Karmine Corp. Invictus Gaming handed them their other defeat, by the same 1-2 margin.
