G2 Esports swept TYLOO 2-0 in Shanghai to open Group C at VALORANT Champions 2026, sending the North American side to the winners’ bracket while the Chinese host-region team drops into the lower side of the group.
The series opened on Lotus, and the scoreline was closer than the eventual 13-6 result suggested. TYLOO built an early lead on attack, pushing the home Shanghai crowd into a frenzy, before G2 clawed the map back with a strong defensive side.
TYLOO strung together a run of rounds partway through the map that briefly had the crowd believing in an upset, but it wasn’t enough to swing the result. G2 carried that momentum straight into map two and closed out the series 2-0.
The winning lineup of jawgemo, BABYBAY, trent, valyn, leaf and splash needed just two maps to punch through to the winners’ side of Group C, a group that also features several players to watch at Champions Shanghai.
The win sends one of North America’s better-regarded rosters through the opening round without dropping a map, a strong start in a tournament carrying a $2.25 million (£1.8 million) prize pool. It also arrived against pre-event expectations, with TYLOO rated among the stronger sides in the field and buoyed further by home-crowd support heading into the match, as Dot Esports reported.
