Final Fantasy VII Revelation Will Let You Spec Into Different FITS Classes But Still Wear The Party's Classic Outfits

One of the bigger additions to Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy in the upcoming finale, Revelation, is the FITS system. This Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system allows players to spec Cloud and friends into four different "types," which are basically jobs. There's Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. The feature adds additional customization to Revelation's already feature-packed combat (which also adds two new party members with Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine), but it also changes how a party member is dressed. After going hands-on with Final Fantasy VII Revelation's first chapter during Tokyo Game Show last week – read my preview here – I asked director Naoki Hamaguchi if players can still wear the team's classic outfits. 

While I enjoy different costumes and outfits in games, if there is a canon outfit, I always prefer to wear it during big story moments. When fighting Sephiroth, I want Cloud wearing his classic Soldier gear – not the flowing dress outfit associated with a FITS type like the Black Mage, for example. Hamaguchi quickly quells my fears, telling me, "That was really important for us to keep." 

"There are, of course, players who want to use all these different classes, but still want to keep Cloud and his signature look," Hamaguchi says, explaining that this option will be available from the jump. 

It's not quite clear whether it's an official transmog system or just an option to turn FITS looks on/off, but it's still great to hear I can take a Black Mage Cloud into a fight against Sephiroth while still wearing Cloud's trademark Soldier gear.
