We're just months away from getting our first major Fable game since Fable Anniversary in 2014, but it was never supposed to be this way. Fable Legends was supposed to be with us in 2016, giving us the series' first live service.

However, it was never meant to be. While it was available to play in beta, Xbox pulled the plug and even shut Lionhead down. Despite the game being pretty much ready to go, Fable Legends ended its beta and never came back online, making it a tragic piece of lost media.

That is, until now. An archivist says that they've managed to get a build of Fable Legends up and running, and as proof, they're sharing gameplay clips over on YouTube. They say that they're only able to play it offline for now, but this opens the door for Fable Legends to be brought back in some capacity, perhaps through private servers.

This all comes from YouTuber PtoPOnline, the handle for archivist Andrew Borman. On this YouTube account, Borman is dedicated to preserving "the rarest and most obscure prototype and unreleased gaming titles". Fable Legends certainly qualifies as this, as it mostly just lives on in the memories of those who played the beta.

You can see an example of this above, with Borman able to complete a full quest, alongside CPU companions (which could have been other players in the official release).

The latest video was shared earlier this month. It shows the game booting up and the player going through a tutorial, selecting their character.
